ENGLISH EXPRESSIONS: "JUMP IN AT THE DEEP END"

When you are learning a language it is often a good idea just to "jump in at the deep end". This expression is connected to the idea of a swimming pool where there is a shallow end and a deep end! If you jump in at the deep end and you can't swim then you need to learn very quickly!
